2026-10-12: provider on card payments now returns card

The provider field on card payments now always returns card, whichever card processor handled the payment. Earlier responses could carry a processor-specific value. This applies to:
  • the POST /business/payment/charge response, including an idempotent replay of an earlier charge
  • the payment.created webhook for card payments
The field is still present, so code that reads it keeps working. If your integration branched on a processor-specific value, switch it to card. provider is the payment method family, not routing information. It has never been needed to confirm, refund or reconcile a payment.
